Thirty+ Years of Brass,
Eight Years of 'OOMPAH'...
Bierstein Blasmusik were officially formed in 2019 — but the musicians behind the name have performed as a Big Brass Band and as various mini Oompah Bands on demand for more than thirty years.
- Traditional German Oktoberfest music and popular cover songs rearranged in an upbeat Oompah style.
- A 9-piece ensemble featuring instruments like clarinets, trumpets, a trombone, and a rhythm section.
- They primarily perform seasonally around the autumn Oktoberfest celebrations across the island.
- Formed Summer of 2018, the group plays at local venues, restaurants, and beer gardens, and for British Forces Functions all over Cyprus.
Stephen Walkley
Stephen Walkley founded the band in the summer of 2018, bringing together his musical friends in the industry to produce Cyprus' first and still only authentic Bavarian style Oompah Band, pleasing the demand island-wide.
Stephen formerly served with The Prince of Wales Royal Regiment to which he was also WO2 Band Sergeant Major of the PWRR Kohima Band; hence having the knack of commanding a crowd with Oktoberfest games and routines.
Now in its eighth year, the band enters a new chapter following the recent retirement of Founder, Trombonist and Leader Stephen Walkley.
Band Manager & Crowd Commander
Stepping in to manage the band and command the crowds is long-standing client of the band, event manager & Entertainment Services Provider, Gavin Riseley.
Gavin is reforming Bierstein Blasmusik — keeping as many of its original members as possible — to perform mainly as a 4, 5 or 6-piece ensemble, with a Super 9-piece band available subject to requirement.
Gavin Riseley Entertainment
Bierstein Blasmusik is presented and managed by Gavin Riseley Entertainment — a Cyprus-based entertainment services provider specialising in premium live music, event production, and tailored hospitality entertainment across the Mediterranean.
