Bierstein Blasmusik is Cyprus's only authentic Bavarian-style Oompah band, bringing the spirit of Oktoberfest to the Mediterranean. Founded in the summer of 2018 by Stephen Walkley — a former WO2 Band Sergeant Major of the PWRR Kohima Band — the ensemble draws on more than thirty years of collective performance experience across the island.

The band specialises in traditional German Oktoberfest music — polkas, waltzes, marches, and singalong toasts — fused with popular cover songs reimagined in a heavy brass Oompah style. From an intimate quartet to a full nine-piece spectacle, Bierstein Blasmusik scales to suit any venue or occasion, with optional professional sound and lighting production, hosted Oktoberfest games, and themed sideline entertainment.

The band performs for corporate events, festivals, weddings, and private celebrations across Cyprus and internationally. Audiences range from hotel guests and festival crowds to British Forces functions and private clients seeking an authentic Bavarian atmosphere.

For 2026, Stephen is taking a step back and having a well deserved break, during such time and for Oktoberfest season, Bierstein Blasmusik is being presented and managed by Gavin Riseley Entertainment — a Cyprus-based entertainment services provider specialising in premium live music, event production, and tailored hospitality entertainment across the Mediterranean. Gavin is reforming the band to perform mainly as a 4, 5 or 6-piece ensemble, with a Super 9-piece band available subject to requirement.
